IDModeling Thought Leaders and Sedaru Featured in AWWA M5 – Utility Management, Manual of Practice

Posted by whitefrog

ARCADIA, CA — The American Water Works Association (AWWA) released the 3rd edition of the Manual of Practice M5 – Water Utility Management (M5). IDModeling experts Paul Hauffen, Sree Sreedhar, and Kevin Koshko and the Sedaru Utility Management software made valuable contributions to the manual.

The IDModeling team contributed to Chapter 5:  “Information Management: Whoever Manages Information the Best Wins!” authoring sections for enterprise asset management, field mobility and maintenance management, hydraulic modeling, and utility connectedness and internet of things (IoT).  IDModeling’s Sedaru software is pictured in the chapter as the representative example for connected, enterprise asset management and field data collection.

Section 5 of the M5 discusses best practices for utility managers to access and apply data from information systems to optimize operations, planning, and management decision making.  Systems such as GIS, SCADA, AMI/AMR, CIS, ERP, and Hydraulic Modeling, are delivering more data – and more real-time data, to deliver more efficient operations, better customer service, and a consistently higher ROI.  The evolving digital utility can support smarter cities by leveraging commercially available technology to harness data for advanced analytics, advanced reporting, prediction, and eventual automation.

“Sedaru championed the vision of the connected utility in 2013, and led the industry in practice, with a pragmatic, elegant, yet sophisticated technology to enable and advance the utility, irrespective of where they might be on the digital curve.  Whether the utility exists in paper, silo’d databases, entrenched legacy systems, or anywhere in between, Sedaru maximizes workflows, optimizes data access, and drives quantified, defensible, prioritized decision making for any department, or all departments within the utility enterprise.  We’re thankful for the opportunity to bring our perspective to the M5, and excited to contribute to tomorrow’s emerging utility, today.” – Paul Hauffen, President & CEO

M5 Water Utility Management can be purchased in the AWWA Store. The full manual is also available as a PDF download and as a PDF download and print set.
