Sedaru Powers Drought Response

ARCADIA, CA — IDModeling, Inc., a leading global provider of smart water network software and services, has deployed its flagship smart water enterprise software, Sedaru, for numerous drought-stricken utilities in California. Sedaru helps these utilities to respond to new State mandates for saving water and documenting these savings while supporting continuous improvement of water system operations.

The City of Lakewood, CA uses Sedaru as a vital part of their water conservation and drought response efforts. Their conservation crews currently use Sedaru in the field for dispatching, responding to customer inquiries, tracking conservation performance, and developing reports required by the State. Sedaru can also monitor both one-time and repeat water misuse offenders to help improve citizen’s compliance with water reduction initiatives. Sedaru presents all of this information in useful summary reports to respond to State requirements.

East Orange County Water District (EOCWD), CA is another excellent example of Sedaru delivering solutions to drought-impacted utilities. Sedaru allows EOCWD to easily track water lost through leaks and easily develop trends on this information for internal and external reporting. All of this information is stored to help the City optimize both day-to-day operations and long-term capital and maintenance planning.

Sedaru supports the City of La Palma, CA and Indio Water Authority, CA with water meter leak alarms, skip alerts, and other mission-critical usage information directly from their Neptune™ AMI/AMR systems to users both in the office and in the field. This allows for real-time, holistic visibility of water meter and customer usage related issues, which results in quick identification, prioritization, and resolution. All of this translates directly into higher customer awareness, better customer service, and less wasted water.

As Lisa Ohlund, General Manager for East Orange County Water District, said: “Sedaru…will be a key tool for our customer service and field personnel by enabling them to quickly respond to customer inquiries about their historic water use and the drought.  Even better, our crews aren’t waiting to get this information; it’s right there at their fingertips. Water’s not the only thing that we are going to have to do more with less of; we’re looking to continue our high level of service without hiring a lot of additional drought personnel.”

“Sedaru makes a positive difference every day for these utilities and their water customers,” said Paul Hauffen, IDModeling’s Founder and CEO. “Sedaru is able to address the whole lifecycle of resource, asset, information, and operations management so utilities can respond to the current drought emergency while maintaining the highest levels of customer service and efficient operations. We’re inspired by our customer stories, and how Sedaru is helping them overcome these historic challenges.”
